40-Year Nuclear Engineer Exposes Dangers Of Fuel Rods Removal By Tokyo Electric

dangers-of-fuel-rods-removalArnie Gundersen, a 40-year nuclear engineer, now of ‘Fairewinds Energy Education’,  has just fielded highly concerning questions and allegations regarding the removal of the fuel rods from the spent fuel pool in Unit 4 at Fukushima Daiichi, Japan… a dangerous process (for Japan and the world) that is now beginning to unfold.

The following video shows Arnie debunking TEPCO’s (Tokyo Electric Power Company) animated film (of the removal process) point by point, and highlights the very dangerous issues TEPCO will have removing the fuel rods.

TEPCO needs to be removed as the organization overseeing the cleanup of the site prior to the removal of the fuel rods…

1. Tokyo Electric does not have the expertise to do this job right. Before removing fuel, we should remove Tokyo Electric.

2. Tokyo Electric never had the money to do this right. They’re too small to afford a cleanup of this magnitude. The Japanese government has to step up and admit this is a half a trillion dollar problem, and the people in the country of Japan are on the hook to pay for it. There’s not enough assets in Tokyo Electric to ever solve this problem.

3. International experts have to be brought in. This is too big a problem for any one company to solve.

4. We’ve got to provide citizen oversight to make sure this job is done correctly. If we leave it to the nuclear priest-hood, they’ll circle the wagons and not tell us everything that’s going on there.
